Lisa Schmoldt
2007 update...
I'll just add yet again to the beginning of all of this , yes it's me Lisa, and I'm still at it! ..only now in my own studio ...the new studio has provided breathing room for me and my fellow artists to expand our creativity and our comfort ..everyting you are about to read still rings true..I havent chaged at all being my own boss just frees my mind for more creative thought.
This page needs a little updating. I am going to leave my old bio below and just speak my mind for a second..on the topic of Tattooing...latley, my tattooing has grown way to big for it's britches...my appointment book is always full .... Walk-ups at conventions are disappointed that I can not get to them at that show, and then art work I would LOVE to make beautiful in skin wanders off. I'm still in Florida ...still charging the industry standard rate of 150.00 per hour .. I charge nothing for all of my consultation time or for drawing things for people as opposed to pre-exisiting flash designs....(this will be changing to a 20 deposit for all appointments ...which will be kept if I have to draw...or applied towards the tattoo ...if the tattoo is an exisiting hourly rate design your deposit money will go towards your sitting time ...if you miss your appointment you forfeit your 20 bucks ...I have a lot of clientel at shows and on the road and then I come home and locals dont show up for appointments ...and I neeed time to reschedule people who are eagerly awaiting
I ask myself why do I do it???Stay custom When it would be so much easier to piece price things and tattoo existing designs??? Because I LOVE what I do and it has gotten to a level of only large work and always custom...that is what feeds the mind of my creative artistic soul...unfortunatly, it involves WAITING on the part of the client . And for that I do apologize but hey, remember "good things come to those who wait" And I give thanks to those who have the patience and DO wait for me. I love making the client happy and tattooing imagery that I love ...colorful things that enhance the area of the body upon which they are placed ...things that have movement and direction into future works ..I see the skin as one whole canvas now and I try to avoid "stickers" and poorly placed flash pieces..I've worked diligently over the course of twelve years, developing my skills and expanding my horizions so, it is my goal to help you reflect that which is within you, outwordly ..beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...lets feed the eyes of the world with Beauty...natural beauty..floral... faerie.... egyptian ... Japenese ...traditional ...Live it Love it ...wear it ...EXPRESS yourself...after all these years I can finally do that for you...
My name is Lisa Ann Boyer/Schmoldt...39 years young , mother of four beautiful children...lover of music, poetry, and art in all of it's diverse forms...and an award winning Florida skin artist...
....I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, raised in a small town in Missouri and moved to Florida where I graduated High School... This is where I have resided since ...My art training came straight from birth as both my parents met in art school which is where I was conceived.. I have always had an artistic sense about me and took every course school had to offer...after high school I married and had children ...in doing so, I did not pursue my artistic abilities... until around 1992, when I received my first tattoo...and was introduced and intrigued by this form of expression and became instantly mesmerized by the artistic renderings in skin of such artists as Kari Barba, Juli Moon, Judy Parker and Vyvyn Lazonga...learning and re-learning this craft has been a long hard road...of ups and downs .. filled with insights from many people of all spectrums of the industry....I joined the APT (Alliance of Professional Tattooists) in 1999...and follow all guidelines proposed by our professionals within the industry when praticing the art of tattooing...and have been certified in cross contamination and disease prevention.(click on the logo to the right to learn more about the alliance and what you can do to promote and support safe tattooing)...
Currently, I can be found tattooing at Level 5 Tattoo and various other guest locations and conventions...please check the travel section for my current schedule...
I have attended numerous conventions and seminars over the years throughout the US that have proven to be valuable learning and meeting experiences for me. The artists I have been in contact with and have tattooed me, have all, in some small or in some cases , very large ways..contributed to the level of tattooing I am at today .....forever growing and always adventuring ....Sometimes I wonder why I am even in this business and then there are times when the client is teary eyed in complete satisfaction as I have affected them positively for life ..and the unsuredness subsides...
Life itself is all about growth, stagnation, and change ...cycles and circles that we have to pass through in order to evolve....Time provides us with age and wisdom if we allow it...
I try to work with my clients to achieve their internal visions , manifested outwardly, so they can reflect to the outer world that which is within. Tattooing for me is very much about the exchange...I HAVE to have input from the client...
There is so much information out there so, I ask that you please make educated decisions when dealing with such a permanent form of expression.....create timeless everlasting talismans and join us the FEW, the PROUD...the TATTOOED!!!!
and remember the old saying....
"Good tattoos are not cheap and cheap tattoos, generally speaking ,are not good...."
